Activities involve educating employees from different companies along Sungai Senam, Sungai Kledang and Sungai Buntong and commercial players especially in Ipoh town area, about the solid waste problem in Malaysia and what they can do to help reduce waste production in their companies and at home.
Kinta River Education Programme
Under the Kinta River Education Programme, a number of meetings with Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI), site visit were conducted with a few restaurants, coffee shops and school canteens with MBI licensing department on 9th and 10th May 2013. This includes the inspection details on the restaurants, coffee shops and canteens operators visited.
The Oldtown Carnival of the Green was held on 9th November 2013, Saturday at an open field in Taman Klebang Selatan. The objective of this carnival is to raise awareness and conscious on environmental conservation, as well as to practice social responsibility among the Oldtown staffs and local community. There were stage activities and exhibitions that entertained the visitors. GEC was involve in the exhibition to show case our mission and the on-going projects in Kinta area. The general public, local community and school children also enjoyed the demonstration of water quality testing, computer game and examined aquatic insects using microscope.
