Ipoh, 31 January 2016 - The gotong-royong activities to clean up Sungai Kinta was held at Taman D.R. Seenivasagam here today. The event organized by the Global Environment Centre in cooperation with JPS Perak, Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) and Ipoh City Council was attended by about 300 students who take part in planting wetland plants in addition to visits to the IWK plant.

JPS Perak Director, Dato' Ir. Haji Abdul Razak bin Dahlan has explained in his speech at the press conference after the Launching Ceremony of Cleanup Activities and Education of Sungai Kinta, that IWK biological processing plant, which began operations in 2012 to process wastewater from the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, built in Sungai Kinta can reduce levels of pollution along the 120-kilometer thus making the water coming out of the biological processing plant were in the first-class level of clean.

He believes the efforts undertaken by JPS Perak will make Sungai Kinta, among the cleanest river in Malaysia and Perak in general.
